We are nearing the Expedition, and the pre-tour flew by with warm welcomes in the communities and 2,000 people reached with our message of climate change, wind energy and snowkiting.
Today was our third clinic in Grand Forks, and went really well. Three folks from the Lego Robotics Competition came to join us and caught on really fast steering the kite. Richard on the 4 meter clipped into the harness, Stephanie and her sister on the 3.5 bright orange trainer kite against a brilliant blue backdrop, Chris skiing between the snow blown hills of the golf course pulled by the 10 meter kite that reminds me of my home state, Michigan with its blue and gold surface. Two little munchkins stood with Jason just a few hills over learning to fly on the 2.5m screaming in delight every time the wind filled the wing overhead.
As everything was wrapping up nearing dusk, a kite surfer cam to join us, hoping on another kite. He was a friend of Sam's, and hinted that he'd be back on Sunday for the next clinic.
After the kiting extravaganza, I gave a private slide show to the robotics folks about layering systems for cold weather excursions and the 2XtM journey across the state.
