Yesterday I drove up to the Canadian border at Ambrose to drop off the kiters. I had Mike (Vegas), and Ellis with me, our photographer and videographer. We spent the morning in Crosby at Kay and Don Garbel's house packing and getting the athletes ready to go. They put on all of their gear, which they won't be able to completely take off until they have reached the South Dakota border! We dropped them off right at customs and then drove about 300yds away to take pictures, because you can't actually do that at the customs station. There wasn't much wind so the guys started out on foot, but got their kites into the air a little bit later on. Last night was cold, but they have great equipment, so I'm sure they were all huddled up and warm, reading one of my favorite books, Tom Robbins' Still Life with Woodpecker. I'm really having fun with the education crew, we are in Williston at the moment doing presentations and planning our tour. I'm also really excited to have Ellis and Vegas here, they are so much fun. Vegas woke me up by jumping on me yesterday morning, it was refreshing...and a bit painful. We have some awesome things planned in the upcoming weeks.
Here are some pictures from the send-off:
Sam's custom made Wagner Snowboard, pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen
Sam and Paul doing some last-minute organizing
Putting everything together!
More to come!
