Sam, Paul, and I headed out west to meet up with Jason Magness, Schaefer, and Chelsea in Minot around 5:00pm Friday, February 8. The transmission went out on Sam's truck around Devil's Lake, but luckily we got to have dinner with our friend Nels and his wife lent us her vehicle to get to Minot for our Saturday events. We transferred all of our stuff from the broken-down truck to Meg's expedition with blizzard warnings being broadcast every ten minutes. We decided to forge ahead toward Minot anyway; dealing with black ice, limited visibility due to blowing snow, and 40mph headwind. We made pretty good time and were greeted and Minot State University by a very sleepy Chelsea around 2:30am. We've had some very cold weather, causing lightly attended snowkiting clinics, apparently we are the only people crazy enough to enjoy the extreme cold of central North Dakota! We're very excited to drop the guys off at the border tomorrow. I hope we get some sleep tonight!
